A couple of weeks ago, Peanut and I did our part by participating in the JC Penney Shop In. It was planned in response to a group of mothers calling for a boycott since JC Penney started using Ellen Degeneres as a spokesperson.
How can you dislike Ellen? IT’S ELLEN! She’s funny and nice and knows how to laugh and to make people laugh. I adore her.
Though we used to go to Penneys fairly regularly when it first opened up by us, we’d been on our spending embargo for a while. I figured this was a decent enough reason to suspend the moratorium on extraneous spending. And as usual, we walked out with way more than we needed. I picked up new tote, s few shirts, pants, bras, and a couple of things for Peanut.
We saw the sweet head gear below, but decided to leave them for another lucky customer.
That is Peanut’s owl face and my cat face. We are awesome.

I stopped shopping at JCP 15 years ago when they cancelled my credit card because they didn’t receive the THREE address changes I submitted to them before moving into our new home. As a single mom, I LOVED JCP! but the fight I had with the manager that refused to reopen my account left a very bad taste in my mouth.
… that lasted until the above mentioned call to boycott. I adore Ellen, have followed her since her sitcom, and love all that she stands for. the moms claiming to represent “traditional American families” got nothing on Ellen. yes, she is gay, big fat deal! she has never asked anyone to hate in her name … I’m back at JCP (spending cash only though -lol)
I was late for the whole shop-in thing, but I did go to Penney’s over the weekend and buy new jeans, specifically because of the boycott threat.
I love Ellen, and I’m with you-how could you dislike her?
I’m sad I missed the shop in!
I couldn’t make the official Pink Cash Mob, either but I managed to drop $200 there over the weekend on some much-needed clothing. Ellen is amazing for so many reasons. Funny, kind and generous, there isn’t a single person I know who has anything bad to say about her. If the so-called “Million Moms” spent half as much time and energy on truly charitable works as they do spreading hate, the world would be a little better (and so would they).
Wonder why there wasn’t this type of outrage when Ellen did Oil of Olay, or Cover Girl??? Or did I just miss it?
we need more people like Ellen and JCP…stand’n up for what is right :)
i did a similar blog about the experience @ http://www.getoffmydress.blogspot.com
great read Ellen rox :)
